Do you know why we always waited until August to take those weeklong camping trips? We never went in June or July. The main reason? Baseball! Yep. It started with Little League and became a ritual yearafter year. No vacations until summer baseball leagues were finished.Baseball has always ruled the summer. And it all started because you gave a boy a baseball!
Back in the day, at this time of year, we packed our camping gear and took our boat to Raystown Lake. Nearby, at Hesston in Bedford County, we put the boat into the Lake and motored to Putts Boat-To-Shore campground. And then we got ready to have the lake and its tributaries practically to ourselves for a week!
